Classes

Classes at a non-profit Judo club.

With national champion instructors.

Bushido Kai was formed in 1978 and chartered as a non-profit corporation. The club meets three times a week at the Penfield Community Center, 1985 Baird Road. The club has a solid reputation for producing State, National and International champions. All instructors are volunteers. An elected board, all of which are unpaid, conducts administration of the club. The club is a Chartered "A" member of the United States Judo Association. The club is also a registered club with New York State Judo Inc., and a member the Niagara Yudanshakai.

Adult Classes

Adult classes are Monday and Wednesday from 7:15 to 9:15 PM. Adults may also participate in the Saturday Youth Judo Class. Class focuses on the beginner to the advanced Judo athlete, learning all aspects of Judo, i.e. throwing, grappling, joint locks, and choking techniques. We also cover sport Judo, self-defense, and Kata ( forms ). The class begins with drills and stretching followed by instruction and randori. Students 10 years and older are permitted to attend.

Kids Classes

Beginner Class (5-10 years old):

Classes are held on Saturdays from 4 to 5pm. This class will focus on developing motor skills, balance, tumbling, learning how to fall properly and the basics of Judo. It is oriented towards fun and games that lead to Judo techniques appropriate for that age group. This class is a prerequisite to the intermediate class.

Intermediate Class (5-10 years old):

Classes are held on Saturdays from 3 to 4pm. This class focuses on throwing and grappling techniques, along with Judo related drills and games. Rank requirements are being taught at this level. We also start introducing "Randori", the Judo word for sparring.
